Q.  What is the YHA in Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.  YHA is affiliated with Hostelling International, the largest and oldest budget accommodation provider in the world. We aim to provide the best priced, safe and secure accommodation for all travellers so they have more to spend on enjoying themselves.

Q.  Why do people stay at Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.  Dolphin Retreat YHA is friendly style accommodation. You will have lots of interesting people to talk to, make new friends & have activities to enjoy.

Suitability

Q.  Will it be safe for school groups and younger groups?

A.   Yes. All rooms comply with safety regulations. The front and back doors are combination locked. CCTV 24hr security monitoring is in operation. Smoking is not permitted in any of the rooms or common areas of the building. Unsociable behaviour is not tolerated.

Q.   Am I too old to stay at Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.    No. Age is only a number. Your spirit never ages. We have had guests ranging from 8 months to 80 years old staying with us.

Q.    Is there a curfew?

A.    No. The front door and the car park gates are locked at 9pm. You will be given a code at check-in to allow you to enter through the front door after 9pm. Guests returning late are asked to respect others and keep noise to a minimum.

Q.  Is Dolphin Retreat YHA clean? We have stayed in other places that were not!

A.   Yes. Our bathrooms and kitchen are clean. Our bedrooms are free from dirt and dust and are tidy.

Rooms

Q.   What type of rooms do you have?

A.   We have singles, doubles (double or queen bed), twins (2 single beds or a bunk), triples (a single and a bunk), group rooms for up to 6 and a family room for 2 adults and 3 children.

Q.    Are the rooms air-conditioned so you do not get too hot?

A.   Yes the rooms are cooled to allow you to have a good nights sleep.

Dolphins

Q.    Can I see Dolphins in Bunbury?

A.   Yes. Bunbury is famous for its Dolphins. You can view Dolphins in their own habitat at the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury. Please call the Centre on (08) 9791 3088 or view online at www.dolphindiscovery.com.au for further information.

Office Hours & Check-in

Q.     What are your office hours?

A.     8am to 10am and 4pm-6pm, with late check in available up to 10pm.

Q.     What do I do if I arrive between office hours?

A.     Please make yourself at home. There is free tea & coffee in the kitchen. Relax and talk with the other guests or leave your luggage in the lounge room (take your valuables with you) and sight see around Bunbury. We also have free lockers in the common area for you to store your belongings. You will need your own padlock. We will see you when the office next opens.

Confirmation of Bookings / Late Check-In

Q.     How do I confirm my booking?

A.     You will need to supply valid credit card details, money order, direct deposit or book and pay online at www.yha.com.au

Q.    Will you charge my credit card if I give you the number to confirm my booking?

A.    No. You can pay by cash or card when you check in. We will only charge the card as per our cancellation policy, if you fail to show up for your booking or do not give us 48 hrs notice prior to cancelling the booking. We may charge c/card up front if it is a non-refundable booking or peak period

Q.    I am arriving late. Can I have a late check-in?

A.    Yes. We will charge your credit card for one night’s accommodation and a key deposit, and organise for you to collect the key after hours. You can pay for the remaining nights you wish to stay at reception when it next opens. Late check-ins are to be organised prior to arrival.

Linen & Towels

Q.    Do I need to bring any bed linen?

A.    No. All your bed linen is supplied.

Q.    Will I need to bring my own towel?

A.    Complimentary towels are provided in all rooms except for dormitory rooms. If you forget to bring towel, we have towels available for $10.

Facilities

Q.   Is there a BBQ to use?

A.    Yes, and it is free to use.

Q.    Is there a kitchen to use?

A.     Yes. Use of the kitchen is free. Please clean up any mess you make.

Q.     Are there any fridges in the kitchen?

A.     Yes, and freezers also.

Q.     Is there breakfast available?

A.     No, but there is free tea & coffee.

Q.    Do I need to bring my own cutlery and crockery?

A.     No. We supply this free for you. You will have to pay a small deposit when we give you the dish pack. Your deposit will be returned to you when the dish pack is returned to reception when you check-out.

Q.    Do the rooms have ensuites?

A.     No, there are clean share bathrooms.  Ladies and Gents have separate bathrooms.

Luggage Storage

Q.        Where can I store my luggage if I arrive between office hours or while I wait for my bus to arrive?

A.        We have free lockers in the common area for you to store your belongings. You will need your own padlock.

Pricing & Availability

Q.      Do you have discounts for people staying for longer?

A.     Yes. We have great weekly rates. The 7th night is free if paying for 6 consecutive nights at beginning of your stay.

Q.      Do you accept discount cards?

A.    Yes. We accept YHA, & VIP, Nomads & Hostelling International cards

Q.    How long can I stay for?

A.    As long as you want, depending on availability.

Q.     Can I find better priced City Centre accommodation only a few minutes walk to the beach and Main Street, and has a kitchen, laundry, pool table & BBQ.

A.    Unlikely.

Alcohol

Q.    Do you have a bar serving alcohol?

A.    No.

Q.    Can we consume alcohol on the premises?

A.     Yes, you may bring alcohol onto the premises but may only be consumed by those of legal age. Practitioners of unsociable behaviour will be immediately removed from the premises.

Car Parking & Car Rental

Q.     Do you have car parking?

A.     Yes. Free car parking is available. Sometimes the car park becomes full so do not be the last one to check-in!

Transport

Q.     I am catching a train to Bunbury. How do I get to Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.     Monday to Saturday only, there is a free shuttle bus during the day that will bring you into the city centre. If you catch the night train or train on Sunday into Bunbury you will need to catch a taxi into the city.

Q.     Can I walk from the train station to Dolphin Retreat YHA?

A.     The train station is not in the city centre. It may take you up to 1 hour to walk.

A.     OZROOMS Pty Ltd (the Company) and its related bodies corporate own, operate and/or manage accommodation businesses. The Company is committed to ensuring your personal information is protected. The Company understands and appreciates you are concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of information we may collect about you. It will explain how we manage your personal information.

In addition to this Privacy Policy, there may also be specific and additional privacy provisions, which apply to our collection and use of your personal information e.g. information provided when participating in a promotion, entering a competition, subscribing to a newsletter, or participating in a survey. If there is any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and those specific and additional provisions, the specific and additional provisions will prevail.

The information we collect about you

The types of personal information we collect about you will depend on what services you use or products you acquire. This may include collecting your name and address, your email address, your contact address, credit card details, payment and transaction details/history and, where you have the option to comment on our services or products, whatever other information you choose to supply to allow us to provide products and services to you.

This includes; making a purchase at a hostel or making a hostel reservation online; participating in a promotion, competition, or survey; using your number or associated identifiers such as payment cards; registering for services; using related digital services. We hold personal information electronically and in hard copy form, both at our own premises and with the assistance of our third party service providers. We implement a range of measures to protect the security of that personal information.

Cookies

We collect cookie information when you visit our website.  Cookies are pieces of information that a website can transfer to an individual’s computer hard drive for record keeping. The use of cookies is an industry standard and many websites use them. Cookies are useful for facilitating a user’s access to and use of a site. They allow us to track usage patterns and compile data that can help us improve our services to you. Cookie information is used in aggregated form – we do not use it to identify you as an individual. How we use your information and who we may disclose it to

The information that we collect from you is strictly confidential. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade or lease the addresses stored in our database to any unrelated third parties. The Company uses the information you provide to us to help you access the services or acquire the goods that the Company provides more easily. We also use personal information to administer, improve our products and services and tailor them to your interests. We may also send you marketing material about products and services we believe are suited to you and your interests. If you do not wish to receive any of this material you may simply choose “unsubscribe” from our mailing list and no further material will be sent to you.

A number of the Companys’ hostels are managed by the Company on behalf of the hostel owner. OZROOMS Pty Ltd shares customer personal information with these hostel owners and their employees to allow them to undertake similar functions as OZROOMS Pty Ltd, as described in this Privacy Policy.

The Company engages certain trusted third parties (including data hosting and processing companies, and information technology providers) to help us provide, improve and promote our services. We will only disclose your personal information to these third parties to perform tasks on our behalf and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. These third parties may be located outside of Australia. We take steps to ensure that our service providers are obliged to protect the privacy and security of your personal information and use it only for the purpose for which it is disclosed. In providing us with your personal information, you consent to this disclosure.

Our hostels use a reservation system that allows those hostels to view and access customer personal information on our system (for example to view past booking and transaction details).  In providing us with your personal information, you also consent to the disclosure of your personal information to all hostels.

The Company will not disclose your personal information for purposes or to parties other than those outlined above without your consent.

User and Company generated content

If you post reviews or comments on the site, or have your image recorded by photography or video at the hostel premises or a hostel organised event you grant the Company and its affiliates a non-exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such reviews and comments throughout the world in any media. You also grant the Company and its affiliates and sub licensees the right to use the name that you submit with any review or comment, if any, in connection with such review or comment.

Competitions

From time to time, the Company may conduct competitions. When these competitions are run, you may also be given the choice of being on a mailing list to receive further contact from us. Unless you choose to receive further communications from the Company, the information we collect from your entry in the competition is not used for any purposes other than the competition.

Links to other websites

The Company’s website provides links to websites outside of the Company’s services. These linked sites are not under our control, and we are not responsible for the conduct of companies linked to our website. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, we advise you to examine the privacy policy and terms and conditions of that website.

Storage and security of your personal information

Any personal information that we collect about customers, including email addresses, will be kept in the Company’s database. The database will be accessible only by those authorised to perform normal daily tasks such as updating addresses and renewing membership. The Company will take all reasonable precautions to protect the personal information it holds from any misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

The internet is not a secure environment. If you use the internet to send us any personal information, the Company will not be liable for events arising from unauthorised access to your information.

If the Company does not allow you to access or correct your personal information we will provide you with the reasons for our decision. You may seek access to the records held by OZROOMS Pty Ltd, but if you do so, we may charge you for the cost of providing access.

Once we receive personal information from you, we take all reasonable steps to ensure that all the information we collect, use or disclose us accurate and up to date.
